How to Tell If Your E-Juice Has Gone Bad?
E-liquid or e-juice is just the same as most other liquids, it has a shelf life, and if you look after it correctly, it will last a certain amount of time. If you don’t look after it correctly, it’s going to go bad much sooner. Don’t start throwing all that e-juice away just yet though. There are some important things you can do to prevent your e-juice from going bad. Some e-juices and e-liquids which are made from premium ingredients could last longer than cheap e-juices, but no e-liquid is going to last forever. No matter how well you try and look after it.
Here are some ways that you can tell if your e-juice or e-liquid has gone bad:
- There are changes in color; your e-juice may look much darker than when you bought it
- The e-juice may have lost some of its flavors
- The e-juice may have had a change in viscosity becoming more watery
Changes in the color of the e-liquid are normal in most vape juices. As the e-juice sits, it’s going to get slightly darker than when you first got it. Not a lot darker, but if you put a new one next to one that’s a month older, it will be slightly darker in color. If your e-juice starts to look really dark or black even, that’s a sign that it has gone bad.
When you first buy your e-juice, it’s going to be quite thick. More like a syrup than water or oil would be. This could be slightly different depending on what ratio of e-juice you purchase. If you have more VG (Vegetable Glycerin), then your e-juice will be quite thick. You’ll notice after a while that your e-juice may start getting watery. When you first got it and filled your Atomizer or Tank, you would have noticed that you really have to squeeze the e-juice to get it into. If your e-juice has gone bad or watery, you’ll notice that it just pours out everywhere.
Ever had a fantastic e-juice that you love to vape all day? Then, something else comes along, and you put it aside for a while. Maybe a year later you pick it up and think ‘hey, I’m going to give this a vape,' but it tastes like crap. If your e-juice starts to lose its flavor, then that’s a pretty good sign that your e-juice may have gone bad. When the e-juice tastes like crap, it’s time to throw it away and grab another one.
There are some simple things that you can do to extend the life of your e-liquid. E-juice isn’t cheap, so it’s important that you get the most out of your purchase!
How you can extend the life of your e-juice and get the most out of it:
- It’s important that you keep your e-juice away from heat. Heat is bad, keep that e-juice in the coolest place you can, fridge, basement, or even the medicine cabinet
- If you can, keep the e-juice below room temperature
- Keep that e-juice away from the sun
- Remember to always seal your e-juice or e-liquid to keep oxygen out
