The Philippine Department of Health Is Being Urged to Support Vaping!

The Philippine Department of Health has been urged to reconsider its stand against vaping and e-cigarette use after an international study found them to be much less harmful than traditional cigarettes. A study undertaken by the Public Health United Kingdom has found that e-cigarettes or vaporizers could be as much as 95% safer than traditional cigarettes.

The Public Health UK has long advocated the use of e-cigarettes or vaporizers as a safer alternative than traditional cigarettes and should be encouraged alongside traditional nicotine replacement therapies as a means of quitting smoking. Vaping is an effective way for serious or long-term smokers to quit smoking finally. Many countries across Asia have some of the highest smoking rates among citizens in the world. Up to 28% of people over fifteen currently smoke in the Philippines. That’s over a quarter of the population over fifteen who could benefit from the use of e-cigarettes or vaporizers. supports vaping as an effective way to quit smoking and also offers people vaping support and encouragement. They offer a vaping forum, as well an up-to-date vaping blog and vaping article section that is full of useful information about vaping for those that are new to vaping or experienced vapers.

Vaping has been exploding in popularity around the world over the last decade. For many smokers that had been trying to quit smoking traditional cigarettes for years, vaping offers a healthier and more successful quitting solution. Vaporizers or e-cigarettes are an electronic device that is filled with e-liquid or e-juice, that is then heated via the use of a coil. The battery in the device heats up the coil, which turns the e-liquid into a vapor that is then inhaled, much like the sensation of a traditional cigarette. For many people, a simple e-cigarette pen or tube device is all they need to successfully quit smoking. There are basic e-cigarette kits which are available ready to use for as little as $40. When you consider the increasing price of tobacco products, that’s an investment which you’ll recover in saving within as little as a few days.

Many local vaping advocacy groups are encouraged by this latest news, hoping that the Philippines could become a forward-thinking advocate of vaping. The aim of vaping or e-cigarettes is to gradually replace smoking traditional cigarettes with e-cigarettes, then transition down to nicotine free e-liquid and eventual cessation of vaping altogether.

Tom Pinlac, the head of the vaping advocacy group The Vapers Philippines said: “Listen to the experts, it’s time for the Department of Health to look into this report so they can recommend e-cigarettes and heated-tobacco products to smokers who want to quit.” Edward Gatchalian, president of Philippine E-Liquid Manufacturers Association, said more than seventeen million Filipinos could benefit from vaping.

Smoking is still one of the leading causes of death and serious diseases around the world. In the United States alone, smoking causes up to 480,000 deaths each year. If you add up drug use, firearm deaths, motor vehicle deaths, and diseases such as aids, smoking still beats them in total numbers of deaths across the United States. It’s time that governments around the world started doing some serious research into the benefits of vaping over smoking and encouraged their citizens to switch to a better alternative to quit smoking.

In the past, if smokers were interested in quitting smoking they could only turn to nicotine replacement therapy products such as nicotine patches, nicotine inhalers, and nicotine gum, therapy, or going cold turkey. For many long-term smokers, vaping or e-cigarette use offers a more successful and safer alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes.
